New US trademark listings for an upcoming Nintendo game has led to another rumour that the ‘NX’ will use game cartridges instead of discs.
Traditionally, trademarks for the Wii U always list that the game will be disc based, while the Nintendo 3DS are listed as cartridges. So the astonishing find that the trademark for the new, The Legend of Zelda title ‘Breath of the Wild’, which is set to be released on both the Wii U and NX, is listed as coming out on both disc and cartridge platforms, has raised suspicions.
The disc release was expected with the game coming to the Wii U, but unless there is an unannounced version of the game arriving on the 3DS, then it would appear that the cartridges are for the NX.
However, this may only prove to be a new trademarking policy from Nintendo to help fight off fan and media speculation on future titles.
